  41. Many PC parts (sometimes the USB
  42. controller itself) generate (EMI) which
  43. travels through the USB cable into your
  44. USB Audio device (HardSID 4U in this
  45. case). Even if you use a cable with
  46. built-in EMI suppression some of the
  47. noise may work its way through to your
  48. audio device.

  50. So, if any part in your PC isn't
  51. properly EMI shielded, the noise may be
  52. audible when low level audio is played.
  53. EMI noise cannot be perfectly removed
  54. by any suppression method except by
  55. expensive physical separation of
  56. circuits connected to the PC from the
  57. audio circuits. Suppressed EMI noise is
  58. still perfectly acceptable for hobby
  59. usage, but if you're planning to record
  60. your work/art in studio quality, you
